Description for Running Bear A 2-bedroom, 2-floor log cabin nestled among towering trees, Running Bear is full of rustic charm. But it offers loads of contemporary amenities too, including a hot tub, a pool table, and free WiFi. And despite its seemingly secluded setting, it’s only 5 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg.

Comfort and relaxation were top of mind when Running Bear was designed. Case in point: the main level’s porch, which extends from the front to the side of the cabin. The roof overhang will keep you cool in summer and dry even in a rain shower. Kick back on the Adirondack-style log chairs with your morning coffee and listen to the wrens and thrushes, or unwind at night with a glass of wine while whip-poor-wills serenade you. You might even see eagles or falcons swooping overhead.

For the ultimate in outdoor R&R, enjoy a long soak in the porch’s hot tub. The mountain breeze rustling through the trees will only enhance the entire restorative experience.

The easygoing attitude continues indoors. The main floor’s open living/dining/kitchen area is a study in gleaming wood made all the more lustrous from the sunlight streaming in through the expansive windows. The living room’s couches are so plush, roomy, and comfy—perfect for snuggling together to watch a movie or read stories to the kids. In winter the room is even more cozy, thanks to the gas fireplace. One of the sofas even opens into a bed for 2.

So does the sofa downstairs in the game room, which is another fun place for everyone to gather. The centerpiece is a gorgeous full-size log billiard table. If you’ve always wanted to learn how to play pool but were too bashful to do so in a crowded bar or pool hall, here’s your chance, in the privacy of Running Bear! The cabin’s washer and dryer are located right off the game room, so you can run a load of laundry while having fun. The ceiling fan will keep you cool no matter how heated the competition is.

Running Bear’s convenient location means you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to restaurants. But if you prefer to eat at home, we’ve got you covered. The log table, which seats 6, is the last word in rustic refinement. And the kitchen is equipped with all the appliances, cookware, and tableware you could want—including a dishwasher, because nobody wants to scrub plates while on vacation.

Each floor of Running Bear has its own full-size bath and master bedroom, which makes the cabin a great choice for 2 couples vacationing together—or even 2 families, thanks to the sofa beds. The bedroom’s king-size beds practically guarantee a great night’s sleep… and that’s important because you’ll want to be well rested to take advantage of all the sights and attractions that are nearby.

For instance, you’ll be just minutes away from the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with its hiking trails, historic cabins, waterfalls, and wildlife ranging from black bears to elk. Also nearby is Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area and the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Loop, an 8-mile trail of more than 100 galleries, studios, and craft shops offering everything from stained glass to chainsaw art, custom knives to pottery. Plus there’s an aquarium in downtown Gatlinburg and Dollywood one town over, in Pigeon Forge.

Whether you’re seeking plenty of action or days of relaxation, you’ll find it when you stay at Running Bear. So make your reservation today, and start planning what might be your best vacation yet!

Beautifully decorated cabin! We loved it!
This is a beautifully furnished cabin! It was very lovingly decorated and we enjoyed every single minute of our stay! It was even better than the photos! Thank you for being part of a very memorable trip!
Loved the cabin and location. Worked well for 4 adults.
The bear came by Sunday morning around 7. Checked the trash cans and then head d back up the road. Awesome
Great family vacation
Great place for a mini family reunion.
Perfect getaway cabin
Loved how close the cabin is to all Of the local must sees. Property is spacious, clean & new.
Really Enjoyable!
We arrived and found the cabin to be clean, well equipped and a perfect location. We would love to plan another trip and stay longer. The drive to the cabin was a bit of a challenge at night as we are not used to the mountains but loved it none the less. The bedrooms on separate floors provided privacy but also allowed for us to share the pool table and lower deck and common areas upstairs. Would not hesitate to book this cabin on a return trip!
Loved it, will go back!
Gorgeous views and very peaceful.
Great place!
Very clean and plenty of room! So cute and close to town. Definitely recommend!
It was everything we had hoped for.
The property was nice and well kept up. It was clean when we arrived. We will definitely be back.
A lovely place to stay!
We love this cabin very much. It is clean, comfortable, and well decorated. It locates in a quiet forest, but takes around only 5 mins driving to downtown Gatlinburg. The amenities are richer than our expectation. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic cabin with incredible amenities and views.
Great location. Great value. This is a perfect place for 2 couples, as you can have your own seperate floor with private deck.
Beautiful place. Right outside of town.
Everything was in perfect working order and the place was really nice. My only issues were they don't give you enough small things. We intended to go to the store obviously, but I didn't think we'd need to buy things like laundry detergent and salt and pepper. And there was quite a few bugs in the place... But it is in the great outdoors. All in all would do it again, just would have liked a little more of the small things provided and maybe a bug bomb.
Great experience!
Running Bear was exactly what we were looking for on our relaxing weekend trip. It was close to the entrance to the Smoky Mountains trailheads as well as downtown Gatlinburg. The hot tub was an awesome place to unwind at the end of the day. We had a great experience!
Cabin location was perfect, great views and perfect layout
Cabin is very nice, had everything you need for a nice vacation getaway up in the hills of Gatlinburg. Love sitting on the deck, listening to bluegrass music and enjoying the views.
Great stay- close to everything
Perfect retreat. Cozy and as advertised. We did take extra mattress pads based on previous reviews. Beds are hard but we were prepared and slept great! TV 's and Internet worked perfect and kitchen was well appointed.
