You can stop looking for a site for your next family reunion or group vacation: Appalachian Lodge is it! The four-bedroom, five-bathroom home sleeps sixteen people—and a dog or two as well. And though it’s nestled among the mountains, with absolutely spectacular views, it’s only five minutes from the restaurants, shops, and attractions of downtown Gatlinburg.
Appalachian Lodge has two decks that span the width of the nearly 2,500-square-foot home, one on each of its two stories. Both look out onto the Great Smoky Mountains, as do all four bedrooms, the downstairs game room, and the upstairs great room. On the decks, you can savor the view from one of the two porch swings, from a bistro table (our favorite spot for lingering over breakfast!), or from the eight-person hot tub. There’s nothing quite like soaking among steamy jets of water while gazing up at the stars as crickets chirrup and owls hoot among the old-growth trees.
The great room’s towering walls of windows let you relish the scenery even while you’re indoors warming yourself by the gas fireplace or nestled in a leather armchair surfing the web. If you can tear yourself away from the view, you can all gather together to watch a movie or the big game on the TV, which has cable channels (including HBO) and a DVD player.
The game room is another spacious gathering space. It features a pool table (perfect for a rainy afternoon or a relaxing evening in) as well as another TV with DVD player, another fireplace too, a table perfect for an impromptu poker game, and lots of comfortable seating.
There’s plenty of seating around the dining table as well—up to ten people can fit comfortably. And the galley kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances, cookware, tableware, and counter space you need to prepare meals to feed your hungry hordes. What’s more, outdoors there’s a charcoal grill complete with a smoker. The barbecue maestros in your group will love it!
Each floor of Appalachian Lodge has two bedrooms, one a master suite and one a double. The master bedrooms each have a so comfortable king-size bed, while the doubles each have two queen-size beds. All four bedrooms have their own bathroom, a TV with DVD player, plenty of storage, and a gorgeous mountain view courtesy of the French doors that open directly onto a deck. A fifth bathroom is just off the game room, which can sleep two more people on its sofa bed. Have even more guests? One of the great room’s sofas opens into a bed for two as well.
Among Appalachian Lodge’s myriad amenities are a washer and dryer (here’s your chance to return home from vacation with a suitcase full of clean clothes!), 2 CD players, parking for 5 vehicles, a wall-mounted hair dryer in each bathroom, unlimited long-distance calls, and free WiFi. It's the best amenity of all, however, might be its location. Tucked on a mountain ridge, the home offers plenty of privacy, yet you can drive to downtown Gatlinburg in five minutes. And a mere ten minutes away is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which you can explore on foot, by a bike, by car, or even on horseback. Just as close by are Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area and Wild Bear Falls Water Park. Even Dollywood is less than twenty-five minutes away.
A convenient location, a spectacular setting, and luxuries such as a hot tub and a pool table: Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? That’s why you should book your stay today—before someone else beats you to it!
